Making Church Relevant

Local Outreach

This is our way of saying, "God Loves You.” With open hearts and willing hands and feet, Fairborn UMC will serve people - it’s that simple. We serve expecting nothing in return. We seek to serve those whom Jesus misses the most. We serve to be more like Christ.

Ways to SERVE our city and community:

The Family Closet - The Family Closet is our free clothing store to anyone in need of clothing items and/or apparel.  We are always looking for clothing and apparal donations, as well as individuals willing to work in the clothing store.  For more information on how to SERVE within the Family Closet please contact Becky Chambers at gbchambers@woh.rr.com.

SonSet Cafe - Sonset Café has provided a warm meal and a welcome place available to anyone in our community for the past 11 years.  Our church has assisted with other churches for the past 7 years. Currently, 6 churches and 1 community group provide and serve these meals. The meals are served at St Mark’s Lutheran Church on Thursday evenings startingat 6:00 pm.  We need help preparing and serving the meal as well as individuals willing to donate food items for the meals.

SnakPaks for Kids - At Fairborn UMC we recognize that there are some children in our schools who do not have enough food to eat on the weekends.  It is because of these children that the SnakPaks for Kids program was started.  Through our SnakPaks, children are able to get a SnakPak filled with food for the weekend. We are always looking for food and/or monetary donations (to purchase food items) so we can fill the SnakPaks.  We are also looking for individuals willing to fill the SnakPaks.  For more information, click here.

St. Mary's Development Corp. - Throughout the year we have groups serve within the St. Mary's Development Corp. to help out with their housing projects. St. Mary's Development Corporation is a faith-based, non-profit organization that creates sustainable, affordable housing solutions in southwest Ohio through real estate development and management; homeownership and supportive housing services; and community revitalization initiatives. For more information about St. Mary's Development, click here
Check out the video that St. Mary's put together after our last service opportunity with them.

We also had the privelate to rehab a home in our local community of Fairborn, Ohio.  Check out the video below of Dolores' story.
